Racine's Advancing Family Assets Collaborative Named Finalist in Worldwide Competition

Advancing Family Assets, an initiative by United Way of Racine County, was recognized today as a finalist for the United Way Common Good Awards at the United Way Community Leaders Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The inaugural Common Good Awards, created for the 125th Anniversary of United Way, highlight coalitions that are creating community-wide change in education, income and health.

ALLURE Hair Design and Andis Company raise funds for United Way

Five ALLURE Hair Design Inc. stylists came up with a unique way to give back to the community. They incorporated their talent for hair styling to create the Haircut-a-thon. Natalie, Mary, Jackie, Andrea and Danielle spent Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 11:00 am – 3:00 p.m. at ALLURE Hair Design, 1831 South Green Bay Road, providing $10 haircuts for customers with all proceeds benefitting United Way of Racine County. Andis Company helped support their efforts by providing raffle prizes and giveaways such as blow dryers, clippers, and trimmers. Andis also provided a matching contribution for first 50 haircuts made during the Haircut-a-thon.

Partner Provider Spotlight: The Children's Service Society

United Way of Racine County focuses on health as one of the building blocks for a good life and supports programs that assist families and individuals to gain maximum independence. The Children's Service Society has been a Partner Provider of United Way for many decades. United Way funds help support the cost of counseling for clients, also offsetting the low reimbursement rates for clients who receive Medicaid.
