Get Your Steps in and Help Community School Students Get to School on Time

Ensuring children have access to education is pivotal for their future success. The Walking School Bus, established in collaboration with Racine Unified School District, aims to diminish absenteeism and ensure the timely and safe arrival of community school students.

In order for this program to succeed, volunteers are needed. Volunteers serve as the foundation that enables the effective operation of this meaningful program. Through their involvement, they forge meaningful connections with children in our community, all while experiencing the health advantages of staying active.

The Walking School Bus is currently looking for volunteers to walk routes before school at all three of our community schools – Knapp, Julian Thomas and the Academies of Racine at Mitchell. If you are interested, please apply here or contact the Walking School Bus Coordinator at swood@unitedwayracine.org with any questions.
